What is the temperature like in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica enjoys a spring-like weather all year round. The average temperature in the Central Valley is 72 degrees F (22 degrees C). The temperature near the coast and on the beaches ranges from 70 degrees to 90 degrees F (21 degrees to 32 degrees C).
What documents will I need to enter Costa Rica?
US citizens need to show proof of citizenship with a valid government issued photo ID AND passport, valid at least six months after the dates of travel. Because of recent heightened security at the airport, there are new limitations on carry-on items allowed through security. We encourage you to visit http://tsa.gov to learn which items are prohibited for travel. Please do not pack travel documents in checked luggage.
What is the Time Zone?
Costa Rica’s Time Zone is CST (Central Standard Time).
What is the Currency in Costa Rica?
The official currency is the Colon. The exchange rate floats in relation to the U.S. dollar. Dollars and travelers checks are easily exchanged at hotels and banks. Most major credit cards are accepted at hotels and larger stores. The US Dollar is also widely accepted throughout Costa Rica
Will My Cell Phone Work?
A modern communications system connects Costa Rica with the rest of the world with DDI (International Direct Dial). We encourage you to call your cell phone provider to ask about your coverage in Costa Rica. You will want to make sure you enable ROAMING in Costa Rica. The majority of hotels offer international phones and fax service, although direct dialing can prove to be quite expensive. The most economical option may be to bring an international calling card.
What is the Standard electrical voltage?
All power runs at 110 volts, 220 volts is also available
Is it safe to drink the water in Costa Rica?
Tap water is safe to drink in most of the country, but bottled beverages are recommended in rural areas.
